Home-¡ú Mountaineering in Xinjiang China

Itinerary [  NO.1   NO.2   NO.3    NO.4   NO.5  ]

Since a first mountaineering expedition did their climbing in Xinjiang in the middle of the last 50s, mountaineering has been accepted slowly by Chinese people for more than 20 years. I know the process of this acceptance takes quite a long time. I still remember that after my first climbing even in the beginn-ing of the last 80s, I came into a hotel in Urumqi. I was stopped at the gate by the entrance guards. One of the guards shouted to me: ¡°Get away, this is a hotel, but not a restaurant !¡± I was surprised. When I follow-ed this guard¡¯s eyes on to my body, I suddenly understood. That must be because of my ¡°dirty¡± looking. I explained to this guard: ¡°I am not beggar, I am a climber, I just finish my climbing. I need to stay in this hotel.¡± When they knew I went to climb on my own expenses, they looked at me with question eyes, and never under-stood: ¡°Are you crazy ? Why did you spend so much money to do such silly climbing ?¡± ¡ But now, With the rapid development of mountaineering and the constant improvement of man¡¯s life, more and more people are drawn to mountainous area and wilderness as well as other deserted areas, still unknown and un-explored by mankind. Meanwhile, there are many people, who are willing to do anything for not only mountaineers but for all people who do explo-re. So, it is the very time to this part of China to do whatever kinds of mountaineering you likein Kun Lun Mountains, in Karakorum Moun-tains and in Tian Shan mountains, too.
