B: Xi¡¯an/Dunhuang/Turfan/Urumqi/Kashgar/Turgart
Pass
Day 01 Arrive at Xi¡¯an and transfer to the down
town and after checking in your hotel, do some night program:
visit the big Wild Pagoda, climb up to the Drum Tower and the
Bell tower, then visit the small Wild Pagoda, climb up to the
top of the ancient City Wall to get bird views of the ancient
capital at night.
Day
02 Do visit the Terracotta Army, Banpo Museum and Hua
Qing Chi Pool in the morning. And go and visit the famous Stele
Forests, enjoy the Tang style performance at night.
Day
03 Take a morning flight to Lanzhou, the capital of Gansu
province, The flying takes about 2 hours. And it takes at least
2 hours to transfer to your hotel from the airport because the
distance from the airport to the down town is more than 70 kilometers.
That mean you should have to start your visiting in the afternoon.
Day
04 Go and visit the Bingling Temple. This visiting takes
you a whole day.
Day 05 Fly to Dunhuang in the morning, Do visit
the Mogao Buddha Caves in the afternoon, which is one of the best
and biggest caves in China.
Day
06 After the last visiting of Sand Desert and Moon Spring,
catch your train up to Turfan in the afternoon. Over night on
the train.
Day
07 Arrive at the Turfan station and further transfer
to the down town. After your checking in your hotel, start your
visiting and sightseeing in this ancient area: the first to be
visit is Gaochang ancient city, which was built in Tang dynasty;
thenafter that, go and visit the Astana Tombs under ground, an
other buddha caves named Bezlik Caves after the Astana Tombs.
The last site in the morning is the Beautiful Grape Valley, where
your lunch is served under the grape trees. After your big local
lunch, continue your visiting, going and visiting the Imin Mosque,
which is the typical construction of Uygur style. Enjoy the local
singing and dancing performance under grape trees at night.
Day
08 After your breakfas in the restaurant in your hotel,
you may go and visit Kanran Well, like a canal but under grand,
actually, it is not a real canal but is is a kind of ancient irrigation
system. You can not image how the ancient people built it which
lines hundreds of kilometers under ground ! I am sure you never
believe what you see is true ! Then after this great irrigation
system, you may continue to move westward the Jiaohe site, which
is another ancient city site, es tablished in Tang dynasty, too.
After all, Your bus will take you on the way to Urumqi. It normally
takes 2 hours to get there. Check in your hotel
Day
09 Leave for the Heavenly Lake, the ¡°jewel in the crown¡±
of the nearby Mt.Bogda (5445 meters), the highest peak in the
east part of Tian Shan mountains. The altitude of the lake is
about 1900 meters above the sea level. The driving takes 2 hours
to get there. Go and visit some local Kazak families in the yurts
in the forests. Lunch is arranged in the yurt and shared with
this local family. Take a boat trip on the lake in the afternoon.
Come back to Urumqi. Before your dinner, climb up to the top of
the Red Hill to get a bird views of this whole city. After all
today, I suggest you to take a look in the biggest Night Food
Market.
Day
10 This is a lazy morning, but if you want to see how
the Chinese people do their morning exercises, you should have
to get up early and go to the Peoples¡¯ Square. Then you will
see: some people playing Taiji Boxing, some people playing Beijing
Opera, some people dancing, some people playing, the Yang Ge,
a kind of traditional Chinese dancing ¡ Anyway, this is a free
morning till you are on the way to the airport to catch up your
flight to Kashgar. But on the way to the airport, I suggest you
to visit the Xinjiang Historical Museum, in where, you will see
a lot of great discoveries of historical relics from the ancient
sites on the great Silk Road. Finally, you arrive at Kashgar after
further transportation, check in your hotel
Day
11 Please make this day as Sunday, because it is Bazaar
day on Sunday. Sunday is bazaar day in Kashgar, site of perhaps
the largest and longest running bazaar in Central Asia. As many
as 100,000 people come in from surrounding areas to buy and sell
animals and goods. Early in the morning you can see streams of
people in donkey carts coming in to market. There are separate
areas for animals, furniture, fabric, clothing, shish kebobs,
shaves with a straight razor (including scalp), fruits and vegetables,
and much more. In the animal bazaar care needs to be exhibited
as horses and donkeys are being "test-driven". Also
in the animal bazaar you can find cattle, sheep, goats, and camels
- all in a fairly small, walled-in area. When you are in the midst
of all this, you may feel like you have stepped back in time several
hundred years ¡
Day
12 Transfer by bus to climb northward until arrive at
the Tuogart Pass and exit China, all the services end in China.
