Itinerary
A: Beijing/Xi’an/Lanzhou/Dunhuang/Urumqi/Turfan/Kuche/Taklamakan
Desert/Khotan/Kashgar/Tuogart Pass
Day 01 Arrive Beijing (anywhere in China), transfer to
your hotel
Day 02 After breakfast in your hotel, take a
ride by your bus to go to visit the Forbidden City in the whole
morning. After your lunch in the street, have a Lane Tour by Man-Pulling
carts in the traditional Chinese Lanes, then take a walk in the
Tiannanmen Square, after your dinner in the street, go to visit
the traditional Chinese Tea House to enjoy the Beijing Operate
and other traditional Chinese performances;
Day
03 Go to the Great Wall and come back to your hotel in
the evening
Day 04 Catch the early flight and fly to Xi’an.
The flight takes about 2 hours. After checking in your hotel,
Do visit the Terracotta Army, Banpo Museum. In the evening climb
up to the top of the great ancient City Walls to get the bird
views of this ancient capital.
Day
05 One more day for sightseeing, visit the big Wild Goose
Pagoda, Bell Tower, the Drum Tower and the famous Stele Forests,
enjoy the Tang style performance at night.
Day 06 Take a morning flight to Lanzhou, the capital
of Gansu province, The flying takes about 2 hours. And it takes
at least 2 hours to transfer to your hotel from the airport because
the distance from the airport to the down town is more than 70
kilometers. That mean you should have to start your visiting in
the afternoon.

07 Go and visit the Bingling Temple. This visiting takes
you a whole day.
Day 08 Fly to Dunhuang in the morning, Do visit
the Mogao Buddha Caves in the afternoon, which is one of the best
and biggest caves in China.
Day
09 After the last visiting of Sand Desert and Moon Spring,
catch your flight to Urumqi in the afternoon, then transfer to
your hotel in Urumqi.
Day
10 Leave for the Heavenly Lake. the driving takes 2 hours
to arrive at the lake, which is located at the foot of Mt.Bogda.
the highest peak in the east part of Tianshan Mountains. The altitude
of the lake is about 1900 meters above the sea level. Go and visit
some local Kazak families in the yurts in the forests. Lunch is
arranged in the yurt. Take a boat trip on the lake in the afternoon.
Come back to Urumqi and climb up to the highest point in the city,
the top of the Red Hill to get the birdviews of the whole city.
Take a walk in the Night Food Market before your dinner. Stay
in the same hotel
 Day
11 It takes you 2 hours to visit the Xinjiang Historical
Museum before you start your traveling in Xinjiang because it
could help you to learn more knowledge about Xinjiang history.
Then drive to Turfan by your private car. The driving takes you
2 and half an hour to get Turfan area. Start your visiting immediately.
Let’s start your visiting in the east part. The first to be visit
is Gaochang ancient city, which was built in Tang dynasty, then
to see the Astana Tombs under ground, visit an other buddha caves
named Bezlik Caves after the Astana Tombs. the last site in the
morning is the Beautiful Grape Valley, where your lunch is served
under the grape trees. After your big local lunch, go and visit
the Imin Mosque, which is the typical construction of Uygur style.
Enjoy the local singing and dancing performance under grape trees
at night.
Day
12 The program today is visiting the splendid ancient
Irrigation systems under the ground, that is the famous Karren
Well, which are huge channels under the ground and leading water
from Tianshan Mountains to irrigate the farm lands in Turfan area.
Then before your departure to Kurla, visit another ancient city
ruin, Jiaohe ancient city, which is the same age with Gaochang
city ruin. After all in Turfan, continue your driving, climb over
Tianshan Mountains again and approach close to the second biggest
desert in the world, Taklamakan Desert. Stop for night in Kurla
city. The distance today is about 400km. You should have to climb
over a pass named Dry Valley.
Day
13 Continue your driving until arrive at Kuche city,
then turn to the North to reach at the Subash ancient city ruin.
Spend your 2 hours to take a walk around this beautiful ruins
and then come back to the town again. Leave for one of the four
biggest Thousands Buddha Caves, Kizil Caves. If you do not mind,
we could camp outside for night, or check in the only guesthouse
there.
Day
14 Start your visiting here with your local guide. I
am sure the visiting takes you a whole morning at least. Then
leave for Kuche town again for lunch in the street. Then let’s
move backward for another 170 km to arrive at the Luntai city.
Check in a local hotel for night.
Day
15 Continue your journey and approach to the Taklamakan
Desert. Then start your Crossing Taklamakan Desert journey by
your car until arriving at Menfeng county in the evening. On the
way, you will enjoy beautiful landscape of desert, huge, beautiful
golden color sand dunes. Check in a hotel for night. The distance
today is about 550km.
Day
16 Spend 2 hours to take a walk in this “virgin” town
and continue your journey to Khotan. Stop for your lunch in the
town named Kerriya, spend an hour to visit the free market in
the down town and then arrive at Khotan in the evening. Check
in the Khotan Hotel for night. The distance today is about 330
km.
Day
17 spend a day here. Take a tour starting from the local
historical museum, and then visit some small Hand Fabric workshop.
As you know, jade from this area is very famous. So please do
not miss to visit the Jade market here. If you have enough time,
maybe go and visit some ancient ruins, like Rawak Ruin or others.
Stay for night in the same hotel.
Day
18 Leave for Kashgar. Stop at one of the famous towns
on the Marco Polo Route, named Yarkand for your lunch. After your
lunch in the street, spend an hour to visit the old part of the
town. Then leave for Kashgar. Check in the Kashgar Hotel in the
evening for night. Take a walk in the Night Food Market at night.
Day
19 Start your city tour by a local taxi - donkey cart
! First of all, I suggest
you to visit the Abhjia Tombs first, and then go and visit one
of the biggest mosques in the West part of China, Aitigar Mosque,
then go and visit one of local families in an old garden. Lunch
is arranged in this family. Take a walk in the Handcrafts Lanes
to see the very old Handcrafts Making, which was described vividly
in Marco Polo Diary !
Day
20 Leave for the Chinese Pamir until arriving at the
beautiful plateau lake – Karakul Lake along the famous Karakorum
Highway. By the lake, you will enjoy the natural and beautiful
wild landscape of the famous Pamir, one of the famous and splendid
mountain - Mt Mustagh Ata, which is 7546 meters above the sea
level (Mustagh ATA means “the Great Father of Ice” ) is located
in the South of this lake, there is another high peak, Mt Kongur,
the highest peak in the Kunlun Mountains (7719 meters above the
sea level) is located in the Northeast of the lake. As soon as
you arrive there, you will be invited by the local Kilkiz people
to go to visit their yurts. But any way, you should have o come
back to Kashgar before dark. Stay for nigh in the same hotel.
Day
21 Today must be Sunday. Sunday is bazaar day in Kashgar,
site of perhaps the largest and longest running bazaar in Central
Asia. As many as 100,000 people come in from surrounding areas
to buy and sell animals and goods. Early in the morning you can
see streams of people in donkey carts coming in to market. There
are separate areas for animals, furniture, fabric, clothing, shish
kebobs, shaves with a straight razor (including scalp), fruits
and vegetables, and much more. In the animal bazaar care needs
to be exhibited as horses and donkeys are being "test-driven".
Also in the animal bazaar you can find cattle, sheep, goats, and
camels - all in a fairly small, walled-in area. When you are in
the midst of all this, you may feel like you have stepped back
in time several hundred years …
Day
22 After your breakfast in your hotel, start your driving
again until arriving at the border, ITMC side will pick you up
on the border. Now it is the very time to say Good Bye to your
driver, and all the services in China end.
