 Lying
at E75¡ã1¡¯¡¯ and 38¡ã5¡¯,Mt Mustagh Ata of 7546 meters above sea level
is ranked the third among the highest peaks in the East pamir,
standing on the common boundary of Akto county and Tash-kulgan
in Xinjiang, the Northwest in China. Four major ridges the South
ridge, the West ridge, the Northwest ridge and the northeast ridge
rest on this peak, the perfectly round top of which are wrapped
in snow all the year round while more than ten glaciers are set
in the canyon of it. Looking just like a gray-haired old man,
it is consequently called by the local residents ¡°Father of Ice
Mountains¡±. The west slope being gentle, the north and east slopes
are on the contrary dangerously precipitous.
Since
the first peak in China was opened to the outside world in 1980,
Mt Mustagh Ata has attracted many climbers coming to climb. Now
it has become very popular. Every year, there are many not only
trekkers but also many climbers coming to do their outdoor holidays
in Mt Mustagh Ata area. Even many people who never do climbing
in his or her life come and try to do their attempt to the summit.
Why ? That is because: 1 Mt Mustagh Ata looks so beautiful; 2
It is high enough and worth to make a new record; 3 it is not
a difficult climbing mountain; 4 It is not far to cities.
Itineraruy:
You may have choices which
pass, you think, is convenient to you to enter into China. The
following itinerary is only a kind of suggested one:
Day 01 Enter
into China from the Tuogart Pass which is on the border of China
and Kyrgyzstan. Further driving down to Kashgar. Check in your
hotel
Day 02 a
free day in Kashgar in order to do your last checking before your
climbing
Day 03 take
a ride by bus on the famous Karakorum Highway until arrive at
Subashi, the end of the road, where your camels are waiting. This
is also your first camp site.
Day 04
load up all your climbing equipment on camels and start your trekking
first. It takes only 4 hours to arrive at the climbing base camp.
Set up your base camp
Day 05 I
am sure it should take some time to re-organize your equipment
and food for the altitude section.
Day 06/08 Do
your acclimatization training: move your altitude equipment and
food up to your climbing Camp One, which will set up the Snow-line.
The altitude here is 5200 meters. Come down to your base camp
for nights
 Day
09/16 Set up your climbing
Camp 02, where the altitude is about 6100meters, and Camp 03,
where the altitude is about 6600 meters and your climbing Camp
04, where is about 6900 meters.
Day 17/20
Waiting for good weather to attempt to the summit Day 22 Come
down to your base camp at 4700 meters Day 23 Trek down to the
end of the road with your camels and say Good Bye to your Kilkiz
camel drivers and take your private transfer down to Kashgar.
Check in your hotel
Day 24 A
tour day and a day for rest. Do your last reorganization before
going home.
Day 25
Leavefor the Tuogart Pass and leave for Bishkek, all the services
end in China.
